This past week I’ve been digging about in Azure Databricks and Delta lake while doing some last minute study for Microsoft’s DP-200 exam which I sat, and passed on Monday. 🙌 Yay! It feels good to have the time to invest in learning again with lock down restrictions easing and kids going back to nursery.
Not all of the posts and videos I highlight each week will be recent but I hope you find them useful or at the very least, bookmark them for another day.
Here’s what I’ve been reading and watching this week:
Advancing Spark - A Super-Quick Guide to Databricks Secrets#
This is another brilliant video from Simon at Advancing Analytics. This time he talks about secrets within Azure Databricks and the different ways to work with them (along with a secret URL!). He literally walks you through setting Databricks-backed secrets and Azure Key Vault-backed secrets. All that in just under ten minutes with some ideas on how/why to use them! Thanks Simon
Preparing for and Taking Microsoft Exam DP-200 (Implementing an Azure Data Solution)#
Having just passed the DP-200 on Monday I thought it would be a good idea to share how I got there. Although I used a few resources, I started with Cathrine’s post, which contains all of the resources needed. I found the practice exam from MeasureUp helpful though it goes deeper than what’s demanded in the exam. Another great resource to get you started and thinking about the measured skills is this exam prep session from Dwight Goins ( t | b) at Ignite last year.
ADF Global Parameters in CI/CD#
To build on Ron L’Esteve’s blog post I read last week on ADF CI/CD, Microsoft just announced on Tuesday, the functionality to include global parameters in the ARM templates generated by ADF in the ADF_Publish branch.

That’s all I have for this week. Please share how you stay up to date with tech blogs, videos and news in the comments. Is it Twitter, RSS feeds, ritual googling?
