Path to MCSA: Part 2 – Exam 70-462
Im picking this up after almost a year because everything else has always been more important. Its the usual excuse right?
My intention was to do all 3 exams (70-461, 462 & 463) to achieve the MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014 . I could have taken the upgrade path of just 2 exams as I currently hold an MCITP: Database Administrator 2008 but its the same content split into 2 exams than 3. I figured it would be easier to study one area at a time.
A variation on the above plan that I have been considering, is to substitute exam 70-463 with Exam 411: Administering Windows Server 2012. Doing so would put me a single exam (70-410) away from also gaining an MCSA: Windows Server 2012 which would be a nice recognition of the operations aspect of my work.
Im going to start with the 70-462 Self Paced Training Kit which thankfully, I have access to a copu of.
Ill add to this post with progress & any hints/tips I have. Wish me luck!
UPDATE 1 (1st July 2016): The 70-462 exam is booked and Im nearing completion of the book. In the past Ive used the Transcender practise exams that have worked well. A colleague has also spoke highly of the CBT Nuggets videos if youre not a fan of reading the weighty training books. As you’d expect these options arent free but pricing isnt unreasonable.
UPDATE 2 (9th July 2016): Located this good Exam Prep video! Check it out!
UPDATE 3 (18th July 2016): I passed 70-462! Yay! Im now waiting on the exam prep book for the 70-411 exam. Ill start a new post on that as I get to grips with it.
