I am the Associate Head of Data Engineering at Advancing Analytics and a Microsoft Data Platform MVP since 2019. I have worked in Data for more than 15 years, architecting big data platforms for global organisations, running multi-project programmes of work. I have supported global BI Environments, built and racked physical servers, worked with customers around the world to create BI solutions. I’ve touched almost every aspect of data in my career. Starting off with Excel and Microsoft Access, through every SQL Server edition to Azure, Power BI, Databricks, Microsoft Fabrc and more.
I have a passion for the data community and take every opportunity to share my knowledge and experience at conferences, events, and user groups across the UK, and Europe.
I started this site early in my career as a way to contribute to the data community where I’ve found gems that ended hours of head scratching & frustration! This grew over time as I got found new ways to share and help grow the data community:
- By co-running the Glasgow Data User Group
- Founding Scotland’s Data Community conference - DATA:Scotland.
- Co-host the Totally Skewed podcast
